By the castle
The Keep Coffee Shop is on Castle Street, across the road from the castle it takes its name and its branding from. Jenny O'Loughlin, who is from the town, opened it in October 2020. Speciality coffee rather than a general purpose cafe, and the obvious stop before or after the castle.
65 Degrees Coffee made its name in Cashel, on carefully pulled espresso rather than volume, and has opened a second shop here. The Cahir branch is the newer of the two, so check their social channels before you make a trip of it.
On the Square
The Lazy Bean Cafe at The Heritage, 2 The Square, Townparks, is where most people end up. It is a full cafe with a proper food menu, not a counter, and there are tables outside on the Square when the weather allows. Reviewers rank it among the better places to eat in Cahir, not just the better places to get coffee.
The two that are not cafes
Galileo Cafe in the Mill Building on Church Street has been family run since 2002. Despite the name, it is an Italian restaurant: open kitchen, takeaway, bring your own wine. Go for the food.
Nancy's Fancies has no premises you can sit in. Jennifer Simpson started it in 2021 and named it after her grandmother. It came up through the SuperValu Food Academy and sells online and through SuperValu stockists around Tipperary. Celebration cakes, not coffee.
What the town does not have
No roastery. Nobody in Cahir is treating coffee as a project beyond what The Keep and 65 Degrees do.
